What is your current position? What is your area of focus?
I am currently a Senior Sales Manager with responsibility for Inside Sales at TimkenSteel. In this role, I manage our Inside Sales group and oversee one of our largest industrial accounts. TimkenSteel is an industry-leading provider of high-quality specialty steel and produces bars, tubes, and manufactured components.
What are your Career Journey Highlights?
o I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Materials Science and Engineering with a focus in metals and am currently pursuing my MBA both through the University of Illinois in Urbana – Champaign.
o I have 14 years of experience in the metals industry with experience in forgings, powder metal and currently at TimkenSteel a bar and tube mill.
o I am an active member in MSCI and sit on the Forge Ahead Committee.
o I am also active in FIA and sit on the Women in Forging Committee.
o I have previously participated in the AGMA Marketing and Forecasting Committee as well as the MSCI Marketing Committee.
In terms of your career, where do you see yourself 5-10 years from now?
I enjoy my current role, but in 5 to 10 years l hope to make a deeper impact at TimkenSteel and interact with more customers and industry organizations as I really find personal enjoyment out of those relationships.
What is one piece of advice you would give to others just starting out in the metals industry?
The one piece of advice I would give is to get involved, take advantage of resources, and learn! MSCI has so much to offer and what you can learn can really help develop you personally as well as make you a key member of your organization.
What motivated you to get into the metals industry?
I love metals because of the endless applications and uses of metals. I believe in TimkenSteel’s vision statement - harnessing the enduring power of steel to make the world a better place and that drives my passion for the industry.
What is the most exciting or rewarding aspect of your work?
TimkenSteel is a wonderful place for learning, developing, and allowing me to grow both personally and professionally. I appreciate that every single day is different, and I am passionate about contributing to the success of TimkenSteel and working with amazing people and great products.
What do you hope to gain by being an MSCI member?
I personally value the industry insights and connecting with other members. MSCI has great events and so many things that you can get involved with and that has allowed me to get a better understanding of the markets and the future of the industry.
Goals for the FORGE AHEAD Community as a Committee Member?
As someone who is on the older end of the target audience of Forge Ahead, I want to use my experience to help promote the industry and MSCI. The industry is rewarding and getting the most out of MSCI will enrich your career.
Favorite travel destination:
My family is addicted to Disney right now! My kids are currently 5 and 2 and there is nothing I love more than seeing the magic of Disney through their eyes.
